Information is multiplying about the upcoming launch of an augmented reality device by Apple. This time, it's a research report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his reliability on his predictions about the apple brand, which tells us more about the issue.
As powerful as an M1 chip?
According to the source, Apple plans to release its new product for the fourth quarter of 2022. And if Kuo provides some additional technical details, we don't know yet good if it's real augmented reality glasses or a more classic AR headset.
The analyst explains that the machine will be equipped with two processors. One of them is not very powerful and will only manage the feedback and data provided by the various sensors. The other, on the other hand, will be much more ambitious and suitable for heavy tasks, since we are talking about performance similar to that of an M1 chip. Kuo thus evokes “a computing power worthy of a Mac”.
You don't need an iPhone to use the AR glasses
The AR glasses (or helmet) will feature two 4K OLED screens produced by Sony. We would also find “at least six to eight optical modules” whose role will be to display interface elements with an augmented reality transparency effect, the goal being of course not to completely obstruct the field of vision with these. .
The last information provided by Kuo is important since according to him, the AR device will be able to operate on its own, without the need to connect it to an iPhone or a Mac. An independence which implies a clean ecosystem, but which should all the same be particularly developed, with a large number of compatible applications.
