Class40: Crosscall's technological showcase - The Team
The Class40 Crosscall is setting off for its first Transat with Aurélien Ducroz at the helm, two-time Freeride Skiing World Champion and brand ambassador for over 6 years.
A real concentrate of technology, it benefits from the latest innovations and developments in the Class 40. Aurélien and Crosscall were at the heart of the design of this prototype so that it corresponds to its skipper but also in the DNA of its title partner, an alliance of performance, innovation and sustainability.
An ultra-efficient prototype
Driven by the same taste for innovation as the French manufacturer, the 8 engineers and naval architects of the Lombard firm have exploited the new gauge to its fullest. Their studies resulted in an original hull, which will allow significant speed gains with very healthy behavior of the boat at all speeds. The innovations are also perceptible at the level of the bow with a nose of the boat spatulated like a ski, very different from what one can see on the current Class40s.
“The boat never ceased to amaze us. What we had imagined on paper with the architects is completely realized at sea. The boat planes easily, the speed and ease of navigation are there. We can now fully focus on navigation” - Aurélien Ducroz
A floating test laboratory
Crosscall saw this project as an opportunity to test its products in real conditions: the Class40 Crosscall is thus equipped with the brand's latest products, including Wet Touch and Glove Touch technologies for use in all conditions. Used as a remote screen, the CORE-T4 tablet offers optimal comfort for reading the data provided by a technology hitherto reserved for IMOCAs. Aurélien will also board a preview of the future Crosscall smartphone with which he will be able to control his autopilot but also create and share photos and videos captured on board.
Sustainability at every stage of design
With its bold lines and optimized shapes, the Crosscall leaves no one indifferent. But the search for performance was not made at any price. Durability has also been sought with, among other things, non-structural parts made of materials that are more respectful of the environment, the promotion of short circuits for supply and French manufacturing.
The prototype is able to adapt to the most demanding sailing conditions. “Crosscall is a new boat, it will be the only Class40 of this type at the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre. He has a face with fairly significant biases. We have experienced it well this season and nothing has changed. , testifies Aurélien. Its structure and all of its parts are designed and built to provide maximum reliability, which, added to the performance factor, is an asset to finish the race and hope to be at the top of the Top 10 at the finish.
Performance, innovation and durability are also at the heart of the design of Crosscall smartphones, tablets and accessories. A technology that will accompany Aurélien during the 4,600 miles of his crossing of the Atlantic but which is also suitable for all conditions of use, even those of everyday life.
“With this project, we want to reach sailing professionals, boaters, but also a wider public who love outdoor activities, and show them that our products correspond perfectly to their needs. needs. Aurélien is the perfect person to lead this project, he is constantly confronted with difficult environments, whether at sea or in the mountains. » - CYRIL VIDAL - President and founder of Crosscall.
