iPhone
The mobile payment system that Apple should present in the wake of NFC support in the iPhone 6 and the iWatch begins to take shape , according to the indiscretions of 9To5 Mac, and this one involves iBeacon. A good part of the American Apple Stores would thus have replaced their old iBeacon beacons with Proximity Beacons Series 20 models from Gimbal.
These terminals are more precise than existing ones, a function that could be used in the context of contactless payment via NFC: greater precision of iBeacon would ensure better reliability of NFC payment, the POS (Point of Sale, payment point) that can ensure that it is indeed the "right" iPhone that is about to make the payment. However, since NFC requires pairing with the payment system (by "tapping" the iPhone with the payment terminal, for example), it's hard to see what this precision would bring more... if not better notifications.
While Apple Stores have therefore installed new iBeacon terminals, the site reports — without confirming — that Apple is preparing its own iBeacon sensor, which would therefore be installed in its stores and which could be offered to businesses that want to use the Apple's wireless payment system. It would be a kind of "carrot" to encourage stores to provide payment support via iPhone or iWatch. The object, the size of a small hockey puck, would hide under its white shell a rechargeable battery and a micro USB port. It's not the first time we've heard of this device, which already appeared in the form of a patent in mid-July (read: An iBeacon terminal signed Apple).
The site also indicates that Apple Stores and Disney stores are now using POS with NFC support. The pieces of the puzzle of Apple's contactless payment system therefore seem to be coming together, Apple being able to rely on the experience gained from iBeacon, a technology which will obviously play a role in this new market in which Apple wants to s 'impose. After signing with the major credit card companies, Apple signed a partnership with the Nordstrom chain of stores, as well as the CVS and Walgreens drugstore networks.
