Future AirPods can verify your identity thanks to the form of the ear canal
Each person is unique and there are not two who look alike, for sure. Thus, in addition to the conventional biometric points used, humans can provide many still unexplored. For example, heart rate, electromagnetic waves or the shape of our auditory duct.Have you never thought about it?Well, Apple has thought and has already filed the respective patent to possibly equip the AirPods.
The idea seems to want to get out of the conventional. After developing user identification technology by fingerprint or facial recognition, Apple will be able to add a new biometric identification in future earphones in the ear.
A patent could provide airpods with a biometric sensor
This is not the first time that future Airpod has been awarded new features and technologies. For example, a few months ago, we were talking about the possibility that these Apple devices incorporate sensors to detect heart rate.Rumors often come from information provided by Apple patents.
Thus, a new patent application describes two possible ways for Airpods to confirm your identity before authorizing access to sensitive data, such as asking Siri to read your messages.
As we can see, Apple's patent application describes a potential security risk with wireless headphones. In other words, according to Cupertino company, anyone can use the headphones when it is connected to one of its devices, and with that have access to private information and give orders to SIR.
Consequently, Apple will be able to use several technologies that exist today to equip its AirPods.Among these technologies will include ultrasonic signals as a kind of Sonar, to detect the form of the hearing duct of the user.
Technology can "read" the internal auditory duct
According to Apple, with access to this technology, it may be possible to determine several unique characteristics of the user's ear. With "Sonar", the helmet can provide an ultrasonic signal echo which is unique to the user.Variations in the surface of the bearer's ear canal can cause the ultrasonic signal on the surface and can generate an echo with a signature that is associated with this carrier.
But there are other ideas. For example, AirPods could use the movement data of your iPhone and/or Apple Watch to understand your way of walking - your approach - and use them to confirm your identity.
In this sense, such information collected may include, for example, information related to the person's approach and/or characteristics of the person, such as features related to PAS, to rhythm and similar.Walking information can also be compared to the market reference information.
In short, Apple has an idea to equip airpods with more safety technology, in response to the growing use of this gadget. After all, headphones can be a gateway to our private information.
