There are many ways to listen to music, whether portable speakers or not, headphones to wear on or in the ears, such as in-ear headphones... Bose Frames offer a different concept. It is a pair of sunglasses whose branches each have a mini speaker located in front of your ears. They are placed in the temples of the frames as well as the battery and the control buttons. The reproduced sound is of very good quality. No wonder: the American firm Bose has been developing its know-how since 1964 and markets audio products for the home, cars and public spaces.

The glasses are available in five models: Tempo, Tenor, Soprano, Alto and Rando. The last two are first-generation products. Each model has its own style to please everyone. The design is very modern and colored lenses are sold as an option for each model.

I had the opportunity to test the Tempo model, which was designed for sports activities.

The front of the glasses has only one dimension (157mm). For my face, the parts that enclose the speakers pressed slightly against my zygomatic bones. The only possible adjustment is made at the level of the nose pads. Three sizes are included to adjust the frame to adopt a correct position.

The frame is made of nylon. The lenses are made of high-end impact and scratch-resistant plastic. The glasses withstand perspiration and bad weather, but not immersion. The weight of the glasses is 49.89 g. The battery life is 8 hours. It is recharged using a USB-C cable found in the box and a mobile phone charger not supplied.

External sounds

The glasses do not have a memory to store music. It is therefore sent to the product by means of a Bluetooth connection from the application to be installed on your smartphone. A button on the right arm powers the speakers. Flipping the glasses over or not moving them for ten minutes turns them off. This button is also used to pause the music or change tracks. In addition, it supports phone call management functions. The volume adjustment is carried out by means of the touch control on the right temple at the level of the logo. By double tapping the command, the voice assistant is also activated.

Sounds are reproduced in all keys. The maximum volume is quite large. As the speakers are not closed, the music or your correspondent, in the case of a telephone call, will be heard by your immediate neighbors, also when the volume is low. The advantage of these audio glasses is that you don't have your ears locked up or blocked for headphones. This allows you to remain attentive to outside noise while maintaining very good sound quality.

The price of the glasses ranges from €129.95 to €264.95 depending on the model. Bose offers a 90-day no-cost return and exchange policy. Refurbished products are also sold on the site. Corrective lenses can also be installed on the frames, to see with your optician.
