A new study conducted by Apple shows that connected accessories could one day indicate the respiratory frequency of the user.Airpods could be used to record the post-exercise breathing in the carrier and dedicate inspirations and expirations.In the long term, it would then be possible to follow the progression of cardio-respiratory diseases and breathing disorders.

The study is based on an analysis of short audio segments noted on 21 healthy adults after a sporting effort.It is the microphones of the AirPods that have been used in a daily environment, inside and outside.The study has shown that recordings were reliable enough to measure the respiratory rate.Usually this measurement is carried out manually, which involves going to a specialist.Headphones or connected watches could therefore offer a regular and invisible recording for the user in order to operate in the long term.

This study is encouraging, but that does not mean that the AirPods will measure your breathing tomorrow.Apple researchers and engineers are immediately considering conducting a broader study.

Not bad, especially since I use my airpods when I run ... it could give an interesting additional parameter (!)

À l'avenir, les AirPods pourraient indiquer votre fréquence respiratoire | WatchGeneration

@bhelden

And it holds well in the ears?

If your ears are well certified MFI, no problem.(Me it's not my case and even while walking they do not keep in place)

You wear them wrong 😇

I tried intras at first and they did not hold, fell every 500m and bother me.So I bought classic Airpods especially to run and I am really not disappointed.The AirPods hold perfectly in the ears and do not hinder, whatever the time and the speed of running, I recommend without reservation!

Super 👍

It's good.But there is always the question of the security of this kind of data, their reliability, and their real uses.

Olivier_D |

@Rondex

Les données de Health peuvent être stockées entièrement en local sur l’iPhone si désiré, et sinon, elles sont entièrement chiffrées avant l’envoi sur les serveurs d’iCloud. Je doute que ce soit différent pour cette nouvelle donnée.

@Olivier_d

Except that applications can have access to health data.If we don't pay attention ...

Only if they are given permission

I don't see why using AirPods rather than AW.

Olivier_D |

@Ssearque

I can hardly see how the Apple Watch could determine your inspirations and your expirations.(With current sensors)

Ensearque |

@Olivier_d

However, we are capable of it with an oxymeter.Using a beast frequential analysis, we know the respiratory frequencies.

Olivier_D |

@Ssearque

Sorry, I have published too late, but I asked the question in case the Apple Watch equipment did not take me in this direction.As it stands, it is not capable of it.Airpods, yes.

Ensearque |

@Olivier_d

On the contrary, the sensor to determine the heart pulse is just as capable of determining the respiratory frequency.

I don't see why using AirPods rather than AW.

Selling two products is always better than one.

Sorry, but no need to go to a specialist to measure an FV ... Anyone who knows how to count up to 20 and is equipped with a watch can do it:-/

Rictusi |

It's true! And besides it's the same for heart rate, learning to count and being equipped with a watch is enough. I will even further, knowing how to count and being equipped with a watch, weCan analyze someone's sleep cycle, no need for an external assistance for assisted. Founded since I know that we can even calculate a speed by having a watch and knowing how to count, I completely removed the counterspeed of my car, and since then I have no speeding!

Bigdidou |

Ah but, even if it is not yet well exploited in resuscitation for reasons that escape me, I knew that we can breathe by the anus. On the other hand, by the ears it will be really an Apple feat.Who is still overwhelmed in summer, it will be of great service.
