iPhone 2018, screen controls distributed between three diagonals | iGeneration
DigTimes gives some figures on the volume of orders for iPhone screens for the year 2018. Apple would need 230 to 270 million iPhone panels, all models combined.
This gives a fairly wide range and therefore subject to caution, but beyond these values it again draws a range established around three diagonals and two types of slabs.
The current iPhone X and its successor of the same size would claim the lion's share with a range of 70 to 80 million OLED panels. The other 40-50 million OLED displays would go to an unreleased 6.5" model (curiously, what bills itself as a "Super iPhone" is described as a "cheaper model").
In the iPhone camp remaining on LCD technology, there would be this other new 6.1" model with 60 to 70 million panels planned and the same proportion allocated to the current production of the iPhone 8, 7 and SE.
Samsung Display would remain Apple's main supplier for OLED but LG would be jostling to line up right behind it to take care of the 6.1" iPhone. LG Display, Japan Display and Sharp (owned by Foxconn) would support LCD commands.
