Lambersart: the Vedetttes give way to Coquo, a restaurant-wine bar inspired by “the soul of the place”

Orlane Capron took over the bistro restaurant on Avenue de la République in Lambersart in early August. Opening scheduled for September 8 for this place now called Coquo.
His grandfather, Lambersartois, used to come here to drink his coffee. Read his diary there. In the days before Les Vedetttes: the restaurant on Avenue de la République was an institution in the Canon d'Or district of Lambersart, and has been around for decades. And it represents much more than just a place to create a new business for Orlane Capron: “I needed a place on a human scale, a place where there is a soul and where I feel good. And here it was perfect, the fact that my grandfather knew the place was important to me. La Lilloise, a restaurateur for three years, has only one objective in mind in this profession, which is a retraining: “To please. »
Planks from the sea and land, homemade products
And for that, the ideas fuse at Orlane Capron. First, the idea of keeping the warm soul of the establishment, with its large bar, its vintage decor, its two terraces, its garden... On the plate, too: "At lunchtime, we will work at slate, with a reduced menu, fresh products, home-made by a new chef. There will also always be a traditional, family dish, such as veal blanquette. And in the evening, we will make a wine bar with sea and land platters, homemade charcuterie…”
Opening next week
An additional “detail” will allow the Coquo restaurant to fulfill its function of enlivening the neighborhood and meeting place: the morning coffee… “I absolutely want to offer coffee in the morning. It's always nice before going to work to drink a little coffee, read the press... The establishment will therefore be open from 8 a.m. And this, from the opening day, Wednesday, September 8.
Last thing: why Coquo? “It means cooking in Latin. And there is the C of Capron and the O of Orlane. »
Coquo, 51 bis avenue de la République in Lambersart. Every lunchtime from Monday to Saturday and in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday. 03 20 60 55 29.
The Stars of the Avenue de la République were inseparable from the Dancing of the Rue de Lille: the two establishments belonged to the same three partners, Frédéric Deloux, Bastien Desmons and Denis Blanpain. Unfortunately, Frédéric Deloux, who managed Les Vedetttes on a daily basis, died in October 2019. The management of the establishment has "become more complicated, even if a friend of Fred's, Jérémie Dhaisne, gave us a good hand", Bastien Desmons breathes.
The latter and Denis Blanpain have decided to sell the establishment this summer, no doubt with a twinge of heart: “We only have good memories in this establishment. Today, we hope to perpetuate the spirit of the Stars at Dancing. For that, nothing beats the visual: the famous more or less “vintage” posters that adorned the toilets of the Vedetttes have been repatriated to the Dancing. The regulars will meet there.
