And that's it, it's over. Definitely this time, the beautiful boat will not recover, victim of a double swindle: that of its pseudo owner, who in fact purely and simply stole it, and that of its real owners, including Xavier Niel, who let him do it… (1), obviously remaining far too timid on the subject for years. This February 18 it first burned, then the next day it sank on the spot by about ten meters deep. Bernard Tapie would have cried it seems (remembering his tele-football on board?). And me too, imagine, thinking of the incredible, finally imagined at the start by Alain Colas and designed by the truculent Michel Bigoin (2) and far too disfigured after him... Frankly, this beautiful boat did not deserve such infamies!! What a distressing story that his existence!!! Fate will have been on him since he was thrown upside down on February 15, 1976. A bad omen, from the start???
It had been there for years and hardly circulated. Lucrative cruises at more than 120,000 euros a week (the price advertised in those years) were long gone. right with his wife, had been over for a long time. Finally, Pascal Saken had miscalculated his move: certainly the real owners had been feinted in beauty when he had seized it thanks to the false documents carried out by high accomplices in Vanuatu then Tonga (see our previous episodes), but he didn't think that renting this machine would work so badly with its sinister reputation: can you see yourself getting on a yacht knowing that it belongs to a licensed thief? Your quiet cruise could at any moment be interrupted by the police coming on board? As a result, the satellite feeding Google Earth, many times, will photograph it turning at the end of its anchor chain (as here on the left in March 2019 still facing Phuket, often surrounded by a few bulk cargo ships or supply tankers with on its right the small supply ship Orapin 3) and behind it the island of Koh Tapao Yai (“koh” or “kho” means “island” in Thai).
Here below it is alongside the 105-meter Thai LPG gas cargo ship, the Senna, (IMO 9140449) of Lucky Marine Co Ltd, whose home port is Bangkok, still in Phuket Bay, at Ao Makham, April 18, 2019:
With even in December 2018, still in the same place, this incredible shot where it is accompanied by a well-recognizable cable maintenance vessel, the Retriever, MMSI: 564428000, here on the right on Google Earth) and, surprise, finds itself flown over by a private jet – a Global Express it seems, perhaps the HB-JGE (N°9287) of TAG Aviation Services (here on the left), seen landing at Pulau Langkawi airport, at the same time, a rather colossal coincidence , at the very least… a voluntary passage, obligatorily, at this very low altitude the approach of the airport of Phuket, located 30 km further north, not being done by there, as a bonus! The boat, although not sailing, still attracted eyes from afar!!! We recall that it was then no longer called Phocea, because Anh Saken renamed it “Enigma”.
The other bad calculation being its management, even without navigation: such a machine is damaged over time, it must be constantly maintained (it is certainly while doing so that it caught fire: on board there were 6 or 7 workers at the time of the accident) and the location chosen for its mooring being very badly chosen (since the end of 2016, it had been moored in front of the island of Penang: it is quite simply opposite the tiny shipyard belonging to Saken, where his yacht left when it exploded – see our previous episode). The proof is what happened to him in November 2013, during a tropical storm (photos of the damage here) where he broke his moorings and was dragged on rocks. It had already nearly sunk by then. And this time too, no one had heard a Niel or the Rosenblums crying disaster or wanting to bail him out as soon as possible. Strange reaction (or absence rather) of the owners! Especially since a written pact bound the four of them: "Steve Rosenblum met Saken about twenty years ago, when he was working for a Taiwanese promotional items company, a much less glamorous activity than those appear on his CV. “I didn't know him more than that, but he had a boatyard in Phuket, Thailand, which corresponded to the need to have the boat renovated. » Phocea Limited, the Maltese company of Xavier Niel and the Rosenblum brothers, signs a contract with him (here on the right). Saken becomes the operator of the ship, collects the revenues and undertakes to do the work. If they are carried out as agreed, the agreement provides for Saken to become the owner of “part of the titles” of the company which owns the yacht”, notes Yann Philippin in Mediapart, May 19, 2017, quoting the article by One Hundred Papers, which a legal action from Saken blocked upon its publication, as he had obtained from Agoravox, bragging about it later on his own site by posting the site's apology letter (3) ( also referenced herein).
Steve Rosenblum, for his part, after the failure of Pixmania, quickly bounced back on The Kaseen channel, leaving to settle “to attack the Asian market” he told anyone who wanted to hear him… in Singapore. In Malaysia, what a coincidence! He explains it here with a Saken-style argument: “we want to make this market more glamorous,” he told Challenges, in November 2013, when the sailboat returned just 1 hour 40 minutes from its owner ( he could also make the trip by sailboat, as here in Fountaine Pajot, in the other direction, in 84 hours and 550 miles)… His brother Jean-Emile will also declare himself in exile in August 2014… in Israel, on the pretext of a rise of anti-Semitism in France, “fiscal reasons take second place. » Which is hard to believe, knowing his yacht was hidden under an offshore account… (he was already residing there in 2012, as a bonus!). In 2014, in any case, strange coincidence, the two former "flamboyant" leaders of Pixmania left France discreetly. By giving far-fetched explanations!! And by still being co-owner of a yacht... still Luxembourgish (it had become St Vincent and Grenadines at Ayoub), but now flying the Thai flag (after that of Vanuatu and Malta! Today, from there, it Advises us on the fight against Covid19 from the top of his Twitter account. As an eternal lesson giver. But he always plays dead when it comes to talking about his sailboat (or the expensive Cannes parties). Or Pascal Saken.
In April 2014, Mona Ayoub sold her collection of objects that had belonged to the Phocéa, replaying the theme of the great nautical love of her life, she who completely disfigured the beautiful boat. It will bring him a little less than half a million euros. She had spent 5.65 on its purchase, had made huge expenses to make it to her liking (paid by the resale of her jewels) and had sold it for 10 in the end. It would have in fact spent 17 million for its repair and its clumsy modifications!!! When I say it's cursed, this tub!
The quick getaway to Vanuatu
This all dated back to 2010. On November 7, 2011, the newspaper Provence went there with its half-word confidence: “Entrusted by the Magellan company which manages it (see here on the right it had also created an entity called Evasion Limited!), to the he yacht repair company ITM, the sailboat should stay a fortnight in Marseille, the time of a classic technical stopover including a complete fairing as well as a repair of the aft bathing platform. But the boat could soon undergo more significant transformations. Indeed, its new owner - a European industrialist - who bought it in 2010 from the billionaire Mouna Ayoub for the sum of around 10 million euros - intends to "make a profit" from its acquisition by offering it to the lease. In particular, it is planned to organize a major cruise around the world, probably in 2012 or 2013. This program requires making all the ship's equipment more reliable, more particularly its rigging and its energy production systems, but also a few aesthetic points, in particular the deck, which should be redone entirely in teak. “It will not go far, at the beginning, being satisfied with SanRemo in Italy, in November 2011… The bridge will not be redone in Marseilles in the end. Too expensive, or not enough time, we do not know the real reason. The machine is a money pit in reality. Under Tapie already, it cost 9 million francs per year in maintenance costs (1.8 million euros, using it as a brand image to attract sponsors )!! The goose with the golden eggs was actually a leaky basket!
He made a cruise to Singapore and one to Africa, to Pointe Noire, from San Remo, to return to Italy. From there, he will go directly to Vanuatu in just 66 days, passing through the Panama Canal and making a stopover for a few days in Tonga (a place where there was already a huge drug traffic at the time, as we know and as we saw here in episode 3: the one, coupled with arms trafficking by Paul Calder Le Roux, who also has a foothold in Vanuatu!!!). Oddly enough, it then flaunts the "ni-van" flag at the rear, but its lifebuoys display Luxembourg as its home port...we are swimming in complete confusion. He then planned to leave via the Torres Islands (towards the Solomon Islands) "to reach Thailand" tells us the blog of the unrepentant travelers that were "Nat and Dom" and their sailboat Etoile de Lune who take superb shots on the way. of the ship, including that of the very strange red flag deployed on board (here on the left). Something incongruous, which does not correspond to any rule in the flag of navigation: in reality the very first demonstration of the kidnapping of Phocéa by Pascal Anh Quan Saken, under the nose and the beard of its true owners!!
In Vanuatu, after the coup de force of Pascal Saken who seized it thanks to false papers, he remained stuck for 10 months, not leaving until May 2013 for New Caledonia! 6 months later, in November 2013, he was being dragged on shoals, arrived in Phuket… The machine seems really cursed! (note: under Mona Ayoub, he wore the flag of Bermuda, see here on the right). When we visit it then, we see that we were busy redoing the teak deck (here on the left): it was the contract planned for Marseille in 2011! Saken once said that it cost 3 million euros to redo: to hope that the owners did not grant it to him! If it moved, it was in 2015 and 2016, as noted by Google Earth satellites, which invariably “house” it in Phuket Bay in 2013 and 2104, where it is repaired, therefore, for the there found in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, moored a short distance from its previous anchorage (see below).
During the period of repairs and rehabilitation of the bridge in 2014, Saken uses it as a foil, posing in a photo with Cory Quirino, former Miss Philippines but who is also the president of Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, which does not lack salt in the company of the character (herself having been kidnapped by bandits: we see her here receiving a check from Saken for the organization of Miss Philippines 2014). But also with Governor Chavit Singson, a Filipino tycoon and politician who was then preparing for the 2016 Miss Universe election (won by Iris Mittenaere). In 2010, his son Ronald was arrested in Singapore at Chek Lap Kok International Airport with 26.1 grams of cocaine on him. We are still surrounded by confusion. On the day of Quirino's visit, Saken announced that the “Japanese mogul Yuchi Horiguchi has bought 20% of his Yartmarine, Yartcarbon and Stealthmarine shipyards”. And that Japan is an upcoming “opportunity” for him… The problem is that the tycoon was a total stranger!!!
In any case, the tall ship no longer seemed to make long journeys or long cruises, like those advertised at 196,000 euros per week, back in Ayoub's time. So what was it for, that is the question (it should be noted that it will never be observed with its sails deployed either…)!!!Below are the mooring locations of the Phocéa, which has become Enigma, recorded by Google Earth. It is held in a few hundred meters difference, on two neighboring "spots".
On March 3, 2019, he seemed to be back at home and he was again photographed at anchor in Phuket Bay by an experienced sailor (here on the right). Worrying at the time that I would no longer see it between two periods, I had the reflex to ask software such as VesselFinder or MarineTraffic to tell me where it was nesting: bingo, on November 17, 2016, it confirmed its “small coastal circuits”, short round trips, finding yourself on the Malaysian coast, north of Penang!!! Coming from Thailand, this simple coastal journey, without any difficulty in navigation, therefore brought him to another country, passing in front of Langkawi north of the Muka Head lighthouse, where his motor yacht had been prepared, which exploded like a saw him (he's here on the left (4)!! The UNI1K had stayed at the quay for 5 months in a row, - docked at the Kuah jetty - before leaving. Saken's boats travel little! The proud courier des mers has become a simple coaster!
The record boat, originally made for racing and long journeys, this racing car that has become a coaster!!! What purpose ? We can think of something other than tourist "cruises"... with this type of journey not exceeding 250 km (at 12 knots of cruising speed - 22 km / h - it is done in half a day of navigation: some tour operators offer it, but for a trip to Singapore, and for a 5-day cruise!)!!! !). We are the opposite, there!!!
The basic idea, blatant, being to pass regularly with the Thai-Malaysian border!!! And in this context, there are many temptations, as we know… (5) such as the trafficking of migrants or that of ketamine, seized en masse there (see here on the right)! Even arms trafficking, in which he had already been involved (in Vietnam!) before arriving in Vanuatu(6)!!! Vessel Tracker notes it in 2017, usually stopping off for one day, no more, five times in GeorgeTown, for the month of August and mid-July: tourism can of course also be one of its activities, let's be frank, and there it seems to be the case for excursions of about a week, but in a restricted sector as we have seen. He then wanders around the island of Pulau Singa Kecil, northwest of Pulau Singa Besar, the set of islets south of his base in Langkawi, as the Google Earth satellite will capture it here in January. 2020, at anchor again, all sails down as usual. To see the number of tourist boats (and jet-skis) evolving around Pulau Singa Besar (where one can admire in particular eagles) one suspects the sailboat to serve as a floating hotel, which therefore does not necessarily sail for so much :
Phuket and Langkawi have a historical link in fact that should be remembered: the Thais, not really great sailors with their shallow waters, got into tourist boating late, helped in 1996 by Europeans, with Phuket Yacht service created by Vincent Tabuteau, Bill O'Larry, Andy Dowden and Jan Jacob, partners to open the country's first major marina: Yacht Haven (here on the left). But the following year everyone was disillusioned: “in 1997, the nautical activity suffered from the major financial crash and the crisis in Asia. It was that year that the Thai administration chose to strike a blow. It claims 50% tax on all imported boats. Some are chained to the pontoons and more than three hundred boats leave Phuket overnight to escape customs. They take refuge in Malaysia, in Langkawi. The Malays take advantage of this influx to create the marinas of Langkawi and develop the free zone. Generous legislation on navigation, visas and nautical property is put in place: Langkawi takes a large share of the nautical market” writes “Gavroche Thailand” here. The tax will be abolished in 2006 only. "The Thais were finally right to be wary of the Great Sea: it sheltered a whole world of fantasy: the dragons of finance, the gods of marketing and the goddesses of communication" concludes the author with humour.. .
Back to the Enigma/Phocéa: “according to our information, the yacht was finally ferried to Malaysia. It has been anchored since the end of 2016 opposite the port of Penang Island, where its "owner" has apparently set up a maritime renovation activity with a young 24-year-old Brazilian (note: his own brother-in-law). Like everywhere he goes, Saken has again acted up,” noted Laurent Mauduit here, who continued on the explosion of the Un1K, here on the left, Saken’s motor yacht (in which the famous brother-in-law died) . According to Marine Traffic, "the sailing ship Phocéa was still on February 11, 2021 in the Strait of Malacca at position 6°14'15.05"N, 99°45'36.036"E", and it had left Phuket there. several months ago, on August 21, 2019, then moving (at a snail's speed: 0.2 knots) in a southeasterly direction towards Langwaki, where "its arrival was not scheduled before August 23, 2021 at 20 :59 local time (UTC +7)”. This also meant that the sailboat spent more than six months outside its home port, remaining in the same sector, while even without any wind, its 37,000 liter fuel tanks give it a maximum autonomy of 3,000 nautical miles (5500 km!) at 11 knots (20 km/)!
The explosion of 2016 and its consequences a refocusing… towards Europe!
The famous Mangusta-type motor yacht that sank has damaged Pascal Vu Anh Saken's micro-empire. The blow was hard indeed, with the disappearance of his young brother-in-law in addition. The activity of Yart Marine, its shipyard based in Phuket, seems to cease quickly just after. Its sailors-bridge sanders, idle or injured, have actually returned to their country of origin. This is notably the case of Jaroslav Horejsek, who apparently left for Litomerice, a town north-west of Prague. He talks about his passions there on the net: sanding and beautiful cars!!! Saken himself, in one of these marvelous CVs, had boasted of having been the head of a modeling agency in Singapore, the Elite Modeling Agency Singapore, in fact never seen anywhere. However, he reconnected with Indonesia by filing yet another high-sounding company name on September 27, 2017, the Mega Yacht Club Of Vanuatu LLP registered in his name is that of a certain Nicholas Justinian De Souza, (here on the left) who resides him in Singapore, and who presents himself today as a "merchant in European wines". It is exactly one year and 8 days after the tragedy in which his brother-in-law perished. Strange situation, because at this time his company in Phuket, Yart Marine, has already ceased its activities, for lack of employees. In reality, the so-called De Souza, despite his name, is also of Czech origin. And strangely, he still has an address in Prague itself, which is that of an office located above a KFC and a “Fantasy Shop” of souvenirs. Its name, "Mobile Tours sro" (the company was created as a Self-Regulatory Organization, i.e. a self-regulated body, in which the State does not intervene) seems to indicate a telephone company or a tour operator. Think again: its official status is that of “chemicals and chemical manufacturing”!!! However, at this time, all the experts in the circulation of drugs are sounding the alerts of the intense circulation of drugs from Malaysia and especially from Vietnam in the Czech Republic, in Prague and in its surroundings (7), including…. Litomerice! Talk about a curious telescoping!
Everything intrigues, in this umpteenth creation. Their common address is in addition located in… London, at 20-22, Wenlock Road, in one of its shops serving as mailboxes on which the English justice regularly falls for acts of grossness, in particular for Ponzi schemes or twisted bitcoin business. Saken has the art of getting into questionable places!!! The one they chose is home to 209 different ones. Their association will not last: a request for dissolution is made on December 18, 2018 and becomes effective on the following March 5 (2019). Saken had created at the same time, as we recall (see here), the other side of the affair, namely a refrigerated container shipping company, called Agility Shipping (8), whose activity displayed "Shipping of frozen medicine and chemicals”…. The coincidence of the two creations being more than disturbing, indeed!!!
Meanwhile, the so-called De Souza tried to make himself famous in August 2018, by posting a ferocious attack online against the Malaysian government and its management… of a yacht, that of the crooked millionaire “Jho Low”, the man who had been very prominent in a lot of social parties, with Leonardo Di Caprio or Paris Hilton, among others, who managed to steal 1 billion from the Malaysia Development Berhad, a sovereign fund (in fact 3.5 billion cheated from taxpayers by the Geneva's Xavier Justo, the Saudi Tarek Obaid, an intimate of Prince Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud, and the Malaysian Prime Minister himself, Najib Razak). The famous 91.5 m yacht, worth 250 million dollars, had been seized in Bali, baptized Equanimity, before being auctioned and acquired 128 million by the Genting Group in early 2019, and immediately renamed Tranquility. It was then docked at the Boustead Crusie Center shipyard, Port Klnag, Langkawi, and to maintain it required RM 3 million every month. De Souza found it too expensive and basically suggested that the personnel who were housed in hotels live on board instead, arguing that he knew about it, since, I quote, he had "experience in the management of a fleet of mega yachts in several countries. » Which was quite inflated (he didn't have any, apart from the Phocéa), but well in spirit… Saken (these people really dare everything!)!
Low Taek Jho, in order not to go to prison in the USA, signed a $700 million agreement on October 31, 2019, abandoning a hotel in Beverly Hills and his private jet, the Bombardier Global 5000 N689WM, which has since been stuck in Singapore. at Seletar Airport (here on the left, it was bought by DJI Holdings on September 12, 2019: it's a Chinese company from Hong Kong that does lottery tickets!!!). In the case and in the turmoil also, Goldman Sachs, had also, as we recall, helped the sovereign fund to raise 6.5 billion dollars… but that is another story!!!
The tragic end
The Phocéa was in fact condemned, in the hands of an individual who clearly did not have the means to make it work properly, abandoned by its real owners, themselves stuck in their respective lies vis-à-vis the administration. French tax. It was therefore on February 18, 2021 that a violent fire broke out on board (9), near its base in Langkawi. "According to the information that we have managed to obtain from the Malaysian authorities, it is at the lazarette that the fire started and quickly spread to the middle of the boat" indicates Bateaux.com, which seems know very little about the boat. Because the first images, like the following ones, show a fire which started at the rear, towards the engine compartment of the boat: the kitchen is far from there, in the middle of the boat, towards the front and the rooms of the members of the crew (see the plan of the boat on the right). To believe that in the boats that Saken takes care of, the engine compartment is a source of problems, since that is where the fire and explosion of his Mangusta type yacht came from. A fire difficult to control due to the wind, and the lack of means around, despite the rapid alert of two elements of the Malaysian navy cruising nearby, the small coastguard KM Tenggol (2957, here on the left) and the KD Mahamiru (M11) quickly rushed to the scene and arrived first. Unfortunately, they did not have powerful fire pumps, and could only weakly try to fight against the disaster, with their somewhat ridiculous water lances. (watch the video here).
When it stops, for lack of material to burn, the ship is already leaning dangerously, dragged down by one of its collapsed masts. So it's only a half-surprise when you learn the next day that it sank… in only ten meters of depth, that of the whole surrounding bay. The authorities did not indicate a fuel leak, seeming to indicate that its tanks were then dry, but a local environmental company was concerned anyway (while indicating that the hull was according to it “liftable”!). On the deck of the ship, we could indeed see some blue barrels resembling those of oil barrels, hastily reassembled by the crew before it sank (it could also be personal effects, quickly put in was waterproof) . What we have not been able to verify is whether the meager rescue devices seen on board still included buoys stamped “Phocéa-Luxembourg“, which remains highly probable in fact! And very significant of the duplicity maintained since the theft of the boat! Below the KD Mahamiru arriving in the area:
At the origin of the fire...
On board, the 6 rescued sailors (we sometimes speak of 7) here on the left) all seem young, and local, locals (10), apart from their older manager (wearing a red badge hung around his neck during his interview by his rescuers). It is not known what they were doing on board. Maintenance houses, sailors, painters, mechanics, cooks, we don't know. In any case, there were no tourists welcomed on board that day, that's for sure! Workers, housed on site, and who to fight against the heat of the sun in the cabin had erected blankets or canvases in front of the bay windows, hung on the yards (here on the right). Improvised, makeshift air conditioning! We were far, very far, from the tinsel displayed in Venice or Cannes in the past!!!
The Phocéa is no more, today, it lies at the bottom of the water, even if it is the Enigma which has officially sunk! A specialist (Taqweem el Seademon, who presents himself as "Aqua Sapien") explains to us here the possible reasons for the start of the fire, for him also emanating from the engine compartment: "the electrical circuit, the loose connections to the battery, the switch and the rust of the corroded old battery, the power lines are among the networks feeding a fire. Careful inspection should also be made of all oil line clamps so that none are too loose to cause the flammable material to spill, nor too close that they "bite" on the flues and may cause the flues to leak. Any leaks can also lead to the appearance of a gasoline or diesel fuel spill which can cause a fire or explosion if the bilge blower is not turned on or malfunctions. Another major cause of 'common ship fires is the poor maintenance of the premises. The fires involving million dollar luxury sailing yachts such as MY Barbie, MY The One, (The Barbie, 52 meters, here left, which caught fire and then sank on January 4, 2016 in Marmaris, Turkey , the fire had initially started in “The One”, another 70 meter yacht!), MY Lalibela, MY Pamela IV were all destroyed in the fires caused by lax maintenance. It's unclear what caused the MY Phocea fire on February 18, 2021. But it wouldn't be surprising if the key was one or more of the reasons discussed above. The author adds that in the interview of one of the survivors “there is no mention of the extinguishing and extinguishing systems of the fire”…. “Watching the video, I felt the possibility that they had not received perfect training that meets the will of maritime law. In short, that they hadn't operated fire extinguishers and hadn't been able to launch the inflatable lifeboats yet visible (and obligatory) arranged on the bridge! The author recalls that the unfortunates on board apparently had nothing to escape from, and that they had to wave their t-shirts once removed to attract the attention of neighboring boats.

On y trouve ceci :

PHOCEA first
