One of its originalities is to integrate the pump into the heart of its radiator. This adjustment is supposed to promote silence, optimize performance and increase its life expectancy. Why ?It is no longer in a high temperature area.
The set targets the mid -range with the care of almost all market sockets, including the brand new LGA 1700 in Intel.Available around 130 €, Does this AIO Mag Coreliquid C240 do its work with efficiency and silence? We tortured it with a Core i9-9900K pushed within its limits with the key more than 220W.
Mag Coreliquid C240, presentation
The Mag Coreliquid C240 is a brand new MSI AIO kit completing its mid -range offer.Said of a new generation, he supports the new Intel socket and promises on paper good performance (we will check it a little lower in this file).
Two significant facts distinguish it from the very present competition in the field of turnkey liquid cooling.
The first concerns the position of the pump.It is not located in the waterblock taking place on the processor.
MSI deports it to the radiator level. This adjustment should limit its noise pollution by limiting the risk of vibrations at the motherboard while improving its life expectancy.Indeed, it is no longer in the "near" area of heat source.Incidentally, this position also improves cable storage since its power supply (3-PIN connector) can easily be placed at the back of the tray to find a power source.MSI offers a molex adapter if necessary in a bundle. The pump is not PWM.It turbine at 4200 TPM and its life expectancy is 100,000 hours.Normally, his noise pollution does not exceed 18 DBA.
We are in the presence of liquid cooling ready in use.The circuit is closed and brings together all the vital components. The appellation evokes a radiator of 240. This figure indicates that it welcomes two 120mm PWM fans.
Its exact dimensions are 276 x 120 mm for a thickness of 27 mm.Aluminum, it consists of a dense network of sinusoidal fins crossed by several channels in charge of circulating the liquid. The latter arrives hot on the external to leave "cold" in the center towards the waterblock.
The latter is the second originality of this AIO.With dimensions of 70.5 x 70.5 x 52 mm, it has a very special look highlighting the brand logo based on several argb areas of different shape. The whole recalls the facets of a diamond.Note that three areas are customizable.
The whole communicates using two pipes made up of three layers of plastic and a reinforced mesh coating.
The rectangular base is copper and we find a large compatibility sockets.In detail This AIO supports the LGA 115X, 1200, 1700, 1366, 2011, 2011-3 and 2066 at Intel against AM4, FM2 (+), FM1, AM3 (+) and AM2 (+).
The two 120 mm fans operate between 500 and 2000 RPM for noise pollution between 14.3 and 34.3 DBA.At full speed, we have an air flow of 78.73 CFM and a static pressure of 2.39 mm H20.
In use, this Mag Coreliquid C240 displays a neat design. Its argb is of quality with a homogeneous diffusion of light. In a windowed box, it illuminates the configuration well and does not fail to be noticed. The radiator with its smooth coating is pleasant to handle. The two pipes are saved which is comforting for "solidity" and risk of wear over time. The two fans are however more "mid -range".Their dress plays on a contrast between white and black.
The framework is equipped with each point of contact for the vibration shock absorber.Their chassis offers resistance but is quite easily deformed by hand.Their wiring (two beams) is raw.Clearly, each cable is offered naked without any particular protection. We also do not have protection in terms of ARGB connectors.
MPG Coreliquid C240 characteristics
Test protocol.
The processor temperature is released by software via the Hwmonitor 1.44 application (CPU Package value). The noise pollution is measured by a soundometer placed 25 cm against the fan.The tests are performed in the open air in order to disregard the performance of the case. The measurements are taken, processor at rest with activated energy saving technologies (CE1 for example) and then solicitation at 100% of the 10 -minute CPU Burn processor. We are in a situation where the value of the TDP package is around 120 watts under the Extreme Tuning Utility of Intel. For each test, the room temperature is raised and we calculate the delta. We work in PWM mode then in +12V.
We then launched our configuration to its full potential. The processor temperature rises until you reach 100 ° C (CPU value Package under Hwmonitor 1.44).The two fans are then put into action in 12 volts as soon as the automatic calibration of the processor frequency reaches 4.0 GHz (Throttling thermal protection). After 30, 60, 90 and 120 seconds, temperatures are noted. This method gives a good appreciation in an urgent and critical situation.
The results of the NH-D15 Chromax.Black de Noctua are present. It is a very high -end Ventirad based on two laps and equipped with two fans.
Mag Coreliquid C240, installation.
For our test platform, a rear plate is necessary.
It must be prepared beforehand with the implementation of four screws in the right orifices and consolidate them using small black plastic slices. They are quite difficult to position.
The set then takes place at the back of the motherboard and four black upgrades are used to accommodate the Waternblock.
It only remains to put a little thermal dough on the processor (a tube is present in the bundle) and to prepare the base by installing the right fixings.
Tightening using four cruciform screws is gradually done and cross.
The two fans settled on the radiator using 8 somewhat special cruciform screws.Their screw step has a limited height which allows you to control tightening and avoid unpleasant surprises. The most delicate arrives then ... the organization of the wiring.
One cable in it allows you to unify the PWM power of the two fans while the ARGB cable offers male and female headers. It is therefore possible to wire them in series while adding the Waterblock argb for synchronization. However, a compatible motherboard (or an external controller) must be a compatible controller. The bundle does not offer any wired controller or remote control.
We do not integrate the radiator here in a tower. The tests are carried out in the open air.
Mag Coreliquid C240, performance
Mode +12V.
Performances de refroidissement.
We have two situations. The first corresponds to a thermal dissipation of approximately 120W and the second of 220W.The latter highlights our various Aircooling and Watercooling cooling solutions. In all cases, the fans (s) turbine as much as possible.
MAG CORELIQUID C240 – Performance de refroidissement en mode +12VThe balance sheet is really interesting. With a CPU at 135W, we have a delta against 5 and 48 ° C, i.e. cooling performance equivalent to the recent masterliquid PL240 Cooler Master flow.We are also in front of the performances of the imposing Ventirad NH-D15 Chromax.Black de Noctua.
With a GPU at 220W, the classification changes. The mid-range position is revealed with results in charge of a withdrawal against the other 240. The advance is 5 ° C for the masterliquid PL240 Flow against 4 ° C for the Ultra 240 toughliquid. The NH-D15 is also in front withA small degree in advance.
Nuisances sonores
MAG CORELIQUID C240 – Nuisances sonores entre +12VWith two 120 mm calibrated 2000 RPM fans and a compact structure radiator, it becomes difficult to limit noise. Our soundometer records 49.6 DBA which is clearly audible. The breath is there. We are between the Masterliquid PL240 Flux (47.7 DBA) and the Ultra 240 toughliquid (50.7 DBA).
PWM mode
For all of the Ventirads, we have entrusted PWM management to our Mother's Card Z390 Aorus Xtreme. We have previously launched a ventilator calibration using the Gigabyte Smart Fan 5 utility. It allows you to obtain several ventilation profiles. The tests were performed with the standard profile. The pump is also supplied with PWM mode.
Performance de refroidissement.
MAG CORELIQUID C240 – Performance de refroidissement en mode PWMIn 135W, we have a completely correct and unsurprising delta. With a value between 12 and 49 ° C, this Mag Coreliquid C240 is at the level of others. In 220W, we find the same ranking as in mode +12V.Our Core i9-9900K is greedy with high cooling needs. The departure is 4 ° C compared to its competitors. The performance remains correct since we have no active safety. The turbine processor at full speed at its maximum frequencies.
Nuisances sonores
MAG CORELIQUID C240 – Nuisances sonores entre mode PWMWe have nuisance between 35.8 and 46.6 DBA in 135W and between 35.8 and 49.6 DBA in 220 watts. It is not the noisiest or the quietest. The most discreet 240 here is the masterliquid PL240 Flux with 47.1 DBA maximum.
Conclusion
BilanMSI offers with this Mag Coreliquid C240un IAO 240 mid -range.He plays the card of versatility with a mechanism capable of meeting all the needs of "mainstream" processors.
He can also find his place for overclocking but we advise you not to go beyond the Core i5 (K) or even the Core i7. Of the noise of noise pollution, good PWM management limits his breath while ensuring the essentials. On the other hand, with a Fort TDP processor and in case of heavy workloads, noise is inevitable. It is mainly linked to the fans because its pump in its radiator is silent although it turbine at 4200 RPM.
His look is nice with an obvious gaming approach. The waterblock is immediately noticed with its multizone argb dress while its two argb fans are working to illuminate a configuration. The set offers a customizable rendering but does not work independently.
In the end, if you are looking for an original and versatile AIO AIO, this Mag Coreliquid C240 is an interesting solution. It is missing a few "plus" like protections in terms of argb headers once connected and the fan beams.A PWM pump would also have improved its general services.
