Put away your tissues: the No Nut November 2021 challenge has begun

You have surely heard of it if you have a mobile phone and Internet access: the No Not November 2021 has just begun. You can reassure your grandmothers, the project does not consist in abandoning the traditional Sunday nut roast. We are talking here about masturbation, or rather non-masturbation.

Top trending on Twitter since last night, #NoNutNovember is a popular internet challenge that originated in the early 2010s on forums such as Reddit and 4chan. The challenge gained popularity on social networks after 2017, to the point that it has now become a truly global phenomenon. The unconventional lens has something to make the most prudish moms on the planet proud.

The rules are simple: no masturbation, no sexual intercourse or ejaculation, during the 30 days that make up the month of November. The challenge does not sanction erections, but do not even imagine relieving yourself. The rules also state that an erotic dream is a lapse that can happen to even the best - but make a second and you'll be out. During No Nut November, abstinence is an end that must pursue you into the arms of Morpheus. To win, you must therefore respect strict abstinence, "nut" colloquially designating ejaculation in English.

Abstinence as a superpower

This challenge is not limited to a few guys who decide not to masturbate for a month while waiting for the planet to congratulate them. Some find in this month of abstinence real physical and moral virtues.

Levitation, telekinesis, superhuman strength, some men seem convinced that not touching themselves for a few days will give them this kind of superpower. In fact, although the effects are less dramatic than expected, some participants claim that performing No Nut November is actually beneficial to their health and shows a show of willpower and fortitude. Taken seriously, the challenge can actually become a way to fight porn and sex addiction.

In the columns of 20 Minutes, Stéphane Droupy, urologist and head of the scientific council of the French Association of Urology, reassured the participants by assuring that "there is no study which shows that abstinence is bad. The doctor even adds that the latter can have physical and psychological benefits. He explains that “holding back your ejaculation is very stimulating. These gentlemen can therefore be frustrated in complete freedom, and why not take advantage of it to develop more romantic and platonic aspects of their relationships.

The Not Nut November yes, but to go where?

This unusual challenge has no overall goal, but it is the fruit of multiple convictions and intimate motivations . Each participant cultivates their own goals: to prove to themselves that they are capable of it, to hold back to enjoy more fully the next time, each has their own personal meaning. Some use the challenge for useful purposes and raise funds for the fight against prostate cancer.

And if by some miracle your mission succeeds, you are declared the winner and are directly qualified for the "Destroy Dick December." But this challenge, we will perhaps tell you about it another day.
