Shure launches new headphones that are both wired and Bluetooth

Shure has unveiled its new Aonic 215 Gen headphones. 2, headphones that can be used both via Bluetooth and wired.

In January 2020, the American manufacturer Shure, renowned in particular for the quality of its microphones and its in-ear headphones, launched its first completely wireless headphones, the Shure Aonic 215. This week, the second version of its headphones will be released. were presented by the firm, logically baptized Shure Aonic 215 Gen. 2.

As their name suggests, the Shure Aonic 215 Gen. 2 do not completely revolutionize the genre and largely draw their inspiration from the models launched a year and a half ago. We will thus find the same modular design with headphones that are worn around the ear and can see their Bluetooth adapter unscrewed. Enough to use the headphones both in wireless mode and with a cable if you want to enjoy the best possible audio quality.

Volume control and better call features

Among the new features integrated into this second generation, we can mention the IPX4 certification which makes the headphones waterproof against splashes and therefore against rain or perspiration. The Shure Aonic 215 Gen. 2 also allow you to control the volume directly from the headphones thanks to the touch surfaces. Moreover, Shure allows you to manage the various controls from its ShurePlus Play application. This also gives access to an equalizer that will be saved automatically on the headphones. Another welcome new feature is that the earbuds turn on automatically when taken out of their case. A function generalized to most wireless headphones on the market, but which was still missing in the first version. Note also that Shure indicates that it has improved call quality on its Aonic 215 Gen. 2 thanks to the use of four microphones and the use of headphones in stereo.

On the autonomy side, the second generation continues the same endurance as the first with eight hours of autonomy with the headphones alone and an additional 24 hours thanks to the case. The headphones also still do not benefit from an active noise reduction mode. Finally, the Bluetooth audio codecs remain unchanged with support for AAC, SBC and aptX.

The Shure Aonic 215 Gen. 2 are launched at a price of 229 euros in two colors: black or blue. For their part, the 2nd generation True Wireless Secure Fit adapters are offered at 189 euros.
