Using headphones on a call greatly reduces our exposure to the airwaves, according to ANFR

Using an earpiece kit for phone calls can divide exposure to electromagnetic waves by a factor of ten on average. Here are the conclusions of the study carried out by the National frequency Agency (ANFR) and relayed by 01Net. This result is obtained if the hand-free kit is wired or wireless, according to the study released on Friday.

Twelve times lower levels at member level

To carry out this study, ANFR technicians conducted 920 specific absorption rate (SAR) measurements using six core kits (two wires and four wireless). They also used different smartphones and navigated on different frequencies, from 2G to 5G. Throughout these tests, all power levels were at maximum. At that time, it was a "worst-case" exposure scenario, a very poor network quality, but not realistic.

Looking at the SAR measurements, it appears that the exposure is nine times lower at the head and twelve times lower at the limb level when one has a kit compared to the values obtained with devices without a hand-free kit. According to the ANFR report, therefore, wireline headphones appear to be the best solution to avoid a high SAR. Care must also be taken to make telephone calls on an efficient network, says the report.
